Milestones and Who Dat?!?!?!

OK, I don't have the cameras (yes, that's plural) to download new pics from, so I will have to post some on the next one.

Last Wednesday, Ryndon rolled over twice at the sitter's. I hate that I missed it. He rolled again on Thursday and I missed it again.

Thursday night, we loaded up and headed to Baton Rouge to visit my mom and Alicia before she graduates LSU. Which made state #11 for Ryndon. Quite the world traveler already.

On Friday night, we went to a gymnastics meet on campus. LSU vs. Alabama. It was pretty cool. LSU won by a slim margin. The best part (no offense Alicia) was Ryndon. He was hysterical. Ty was holding him and letting him stand up on his legs. As those girls are flying through the air and across the mat, Ryndon was squealing and screaming at them. At first, it was like he was mad. But nope, he was hollering at them and thoroughly enjoying himself.

On Saturday, while Alicia was at work, I went to her hairdresser and whacked off about 8 inches of hair. I think it looks pretty good and it is SO much faster in the morning.

That night, after YUMMY Cajun food at Boutin's, we went to the French Quarter in New Orleans. WOW. Talk about an eye-opening experience. Probably a good thing Ryndon won't remember it. We saw things on Bourbon Street that I would like to forget. Sin City is NOT Las Vegas. We also went to Cafe du Monde and had beignets and hot chocolate. Incredible. It's no wonder people in Louisiana have issues with their weight.

We came back on Sunday morning and Ryndon did so well. He is just the happiest baby and so much fun. We made it back in time to watch the Super Bowl. And we couldn't help but cheer for the Saints. The feeling in the French Quarter was contagious. I was ready to buy the shirt and gear by the time we left. Who Dat?!?!?!

But last night, Ryndon rolled from front to back and Ty and I BOTH got to see it. We were so excited.

5 months have flown by....

On Jan. 12, Ryndon was officially 5 months old. I can't believe how fast it has gone. The record 250+-mile/hour wind has nothing on me. As I tell everyone, he is just the coolest thing in the world and the HAPPIEST baby. (God knew who he was sending this kid to--a mom with not much patience.)

I am the luckiest person in the world to have such an incredible son and wonderful husband.

On Jan. 11, Ryndon had his first cold. We went to the doctor the following day and he weighed in at 15 lbs., 2 oz. Little chunk definitely has a milk belly and never skips a meal.

Official 5-month picture with pony.

About to have cereal for the first time.

Making more of a mess than eating it.

His favorite bink. It says future team roper.

Trying to roll over. We're not there, but almost.

First Christmas

Christmas is always a special time, but this year it was such a great time to experience this kind of a first. Ryndon made out like a bandit. Although, he wasn't too interested in most of it.

He did like the rolling toy because he could hold it.

Big day... All tuckered out.
His haul

Play time

During my Christmas break, Ryndon and I got to spend lots of time together. It was awesome. He is so much fun and I am finally getting him to laugh. Ty gets him to all of the time, but I think he's funnier than me. --Must be his looks. :-) --We were playing patty cake. Ryndon's favorite part is where we "throw it in the oven."
Here we were playing peek-a-boo, another one of his favorite games.

Just cause...

Every mother in the world believes she has the cutest kid, and I am no exception. The camera comes out at our house at least 5 times a week, if not more. I think Ryndon knows the drill. He knows the camera and as soon as the flash goes off, THEN he smiles. He's quite the little ham.

Countdown to Christmas

We're on the homestretch to Christmas and Ryndon is ready. He may have no idea what is about to happen and won't remember, but I am SO excited. Ty gets to open Ryndon's presents and neither one knows what I have hidden under the tree.

This is the first Christmas I've ever not gone somewhere and, as much as I miss being around family, I am enjoying that we will be starting our own family Christmas traditions. No matter how tired I am, I just take one look at my little boy and I wouldn't trade him for years of sleep. Which is good because I have a feeling sleep deprivation is here for quite some time.

This is Ryndon's 4-month picture. He weighed 14 lbs., 2 oz. and was 24 1/4 inches at his doctor's appointment. Growing like a weed and went up a size in diapers while Ty was in Vegas. Don't know who was more sad. Ty because Ryndon grew while he was gone, or me because there are fewer diapers in the box for the same price.
First time in the bumbo. Did really good.
Going out to feed with dad during one of the cold days.
Sitting in the rocking chair his Aunt Amy got him. Ryndon thought it was pretty cool.
He sure smiles a lot...when his hand isn't in his mouth. Gotta love him!

When Ty is away...

The wild things come out to play.

So Saturday morning Queso and Hodge are making a huge ruckus in the backyard. I am sitting in the chair with Ryndon, so I try to look out the doors and see what the commotion is about. (You have to keep in mind, our dogs are like dumb and dumber--not the sharpest knives in the drawer.) I can't see anything but a blue heron in the pond.

But the dogs kept running back and forth along the fence line as if they were following something. So, I get to looking some more. I have to lean back and forth to look past one of the porch's posts.

Pretty soon I see what the problem is--there is a big dog about 3 feet on the other side of the back fence. I look at little harder. That's no dog. It's a dang coyote!!!

Well, Annie Oakley springs into action. I set Ryndon in the love sac and fly out on the porch in my pj's, hollering for all I'm worth. My dogs looked at me funny and went back to their ruckus. The coyote just looked at me. I didn't even phase him. He finally went away from the fence, but was still in the pasture and not scared.

Well--- ANNIE, GET YOUR GUN!!!

I run into the spare bedroom and grab Ty's 22 and the unopened box of bullets. It takes me a few minutes to get it loaded and ready to go. (After all, the last time I shot a gun was in college.)

I run to the porch (Ryndon's pretty entertained with all of this.) The coyote is still at the back end of the corral.

Now remember, it's been about 10 years since I've fired a gun. I don't want to hit horses, dogs or anything else important. So I aim near the coyote but not so that I'd hit anything special. I keep focused on that area, pull the trigger and BOOM!!! Dogs, horses, birds and probably coyote go running.

But next time Mr. Wiley E. Coyote, I will NOT be firing a warning shot.
